B-Cademy squad 2010-2011 launch

RADIALS

Following the succes of last year, the BCademy program will be reconducted for the winter 2010-2011. Particularly aiming at radial sailors on transition year the program is designed to bridge the gap between sailors stepping into the radial wishing to push their sailing to a higher level and academy sailors. Last year was pretty successful with 2 sailors gaining a place in the Academy.

This year the aim is to start the program at the UK qualifier in Pwehli (Wales) 2-3 October. No selection will be held before hand so anyone interested in the Bcademy can participate. I can transport 5 boats and sailors on a first come first served basis. The results and my observations afloat will be the basis for selection in the Bcademy 2010-2011. Cost of this initial weekend in 60EUR/sailors for support only. the cost of availing to the full package (transport-accomodation-support) will be comfirmed as soon as possible when I know how many sailors will avail to the facility.

After the weekend, I will anounce the Bcademy members and we will AS A GROUP build our winter program. The size of the squad has not been decided and will depend on towing vehicles and trailers availability. At training, the squad will be composed by 8 sailors max but it is more likely only 5 or 6 will be able to go to the away events (to be comfirmed)

LASER 4.7

The 4.7 fleet is due to gain momentum with the arrival of a very talented generation of young sailors from Toppers and oppies. these sailors will join an existing group of sailors making the class pretty strong in terms of numbers giving it the opportunity to raise the standard and climb on the international scene.Kinsale sailor Colm O Regan has kindly given me feedback from this year worlds and the need for specific work in the 4.7 (god that sail is smal for the size of the boat!) seem relatively evident.

I have no plans just yet as I am waiting for the provincial program to come out but depending on interest, I may run a few 4.7 clinics and will look at potential events post christmas.
