Bcademy spring program UPDATE There is still 3 places remaining. If by January 15th, there is no further interest, I will look at the possibility of bringing 3 charter lasers in order to maintain the cost as proposed to the 3 sailors who have committed to the program. If you know someone who will not need his laser from March 15th until the Munsters at Easter, please get in touch. Proposed boats must be in perfect racing order (without a sail) as it will be chartered to high performance international sailor with a sail number above 190 000. charter price will be 75EUR/day cash of which 35 will be going to the boat owner. The insurence excess will match the deposit collected in case of damage. I will take responsability in repairing small damages; in the very unlickely occurance of a larger damage, I will get in touch with the boat owner to look at the course of action. Sailors chartering will have their own third party insurence. Contact me on 0861725256 if you are interested in chartering. The total number of days beween all events will be over 10 assuring you a 350EUR income at least for the month they are away! BCADEMY spring program Follow the link to have a look at the 2011 spring program. There are still 3 places remaining in the transition year program. It will prove to be a very exciting program mixing high performance racing and skills specific clinics. the laser RCYC/KYC october clinic debrief (a major focus on light air skills...) Planning ahead The initial plan is for a 4-5 days clinic over Christmas. I have explored the possibility of doing Hvar ( Croatia), but it is coming out pretty expensive and actually a little early for some of the sailors. The possibilities are now for a clinic in the south of France or in Ireland. The next big chunk is going to be the 3 spring Ecups ( Italy, switzerland and France). I am now going to look at the logistic of a month away approach for the TY sailors and flying in and out options for the other sailors. I am also working on designing a light trailer carrying my RIB and 6 lasers, minimising the need for chartering lasers. A couple of sessions A few sessions have occured in October. Colm, Clare (4.7) and John (4.7) have taken some weekdays training on top of organised RCYC/KYC trainings. Colm also concluded the month winning the radial section of the Munster October league relatively convincingly. A few videos were taken: they will be uploaded soon enough on the youtube channel. Pwehlli 2010, Radials There was a large Irish entry in the UK qualifier in Pwehlli ( Wales). 11 Irish sailors made the trip, of which 8 were under the Bcademy umbrella ( and god we needed one it was so wet!). Saturday was a windy day with gusts up to 25 kts and massive waves. Kinsale sailor Sean Murphy was pretty fast recovering with Maestro from a relatively poor start to post a excellent 6th on the line in his fleet followed by Henry McLoughlin in 8th. in the other fleet, Philip Doran was a bit slow to pass the first gear but came back to post an 8th. Saskia Tidey was unlucky to break her mast after a good start and rushed back ashore where Henry's spares saved the day ( she was back afloat just short of two minuts on the start line for the second race and fought well to recover to 33rd). The second race was as windy. Sophie Murphy and Robbie Gilmore finally joined us ( after "visiting" Wales thanks to a GPS with its own mind). Philip was definitely awake this time scoring a 2nd. Eoin Keller was 9th and Robbie 10th. The final race of day was to be a little better after I finally managed to chat to each sailors after all the excitment of the early part of the day (gear failures, late arrivals...). Philip went on winning his race to take 3rd overall just a point short of the leader. Robbie was in full swing taking 5th on the line just ahead of Sean (10th), Michael Molloy (11th) who made a massive progress on his downwind and Henry (13th). Saskia had a solid race in the mid teens ruined by a port boat who took her rudder off on the final beat just boat lengh from the finish... Not her day! Sophie raced in the 30s showed progress in the breeze and was buzzing on the way in. Mark Condy could gauge the progress to be done in the radial. Conor Greagsby and Ciaran Hurney sailed in the std fleet. Sunday was unfortunately called off with the lack of wind so the results of the saturday had to stand.
