sailor of the month : October : Seafra Guilfoyle, RCYC. Optimist Busy enough October. Philip Doran was croned All Ireland junior champion in Howth to launch the month. The Cobbler provided 9 exciting races for the 65 optimist entries. Seafra Guilfoyle concluded his superb season on top of the fleet. the 420 connaughts provided capsizes and excitement in Derg. Best junior was once more crew Jenny Andreasson in 3rd. And last but not least, Alex Rumball took a superb 2nd place in Maubuisson, France in the ISA optimist squad international prep event to Palma Ultimately, Seafra Guilfoyle had to be rewarded for his consistency at the top over the 4 weekends of the month to take the Cobbler league. The 12 years old Cork sailor dominated the junior fleet all season and will be one of the main contender in the senior fleet next year. Solid sailor in every wind conditions, he is a member of Dennis Paaske's training group. His next objective will be Palma in December. November is pretty relaxed with just a few training sessions around. Club leagues and Leinster training league should produce our sailor of the month. past sailor of the month : September 08 : Winner of the laser 4.7 junior nationals, Eoghan Cudmore (14, Optimist, Topper, 420, Laser) concluded a very rich season where he broaden his experience as a sailor. August 08 : Richy Harrington (14, Optimist and Feva). A good summer for Richy who ultimately took the optimist senior national title and the 08 rankings after taking 11th at the Feva worlds. July 08 : Ali Dix (14, Optimist and Topper). A solid month of July for Ali where she secured 3rd at the Optimist Ulsters before flying to the Optimist Europeans. She ended the month taking 38th and 5th girl at the Topper worlds. June 08 : Philip Doran (15, Topper) scored his second topper nationwide in the top 3 placing him as a serious outsider for the topper worlds title. This followed some impressive display in the the laser 4.7 (winner of the Ulsters and the Connaughts and a solid 9th at the 4.7 Dutch E-cup) May 08 : Katie Gambier Ross (15, optimist) surprised numerous observers winning the optimist trials with 11 out of 12 races in the top 10. April 08 : Andrew Tyrell (15, laser 4.7) stormed into the 4.7 class winning the Munsters in Baltimore and the ISA youth nationals. March 08 : Alex Rumball (13, optimist) winner of a race in B'meer achieved a superb 17th overall leading a great grouped results for the Irish. February 08 : Holly Campbell (14, optimist) from RNIYC ahieved great progress within he ISA optimist national squad at the February camp. January 08 : Ross Vaughan (15, radial) from Cultra, for his storming end of season 07. 3rd at the Croatia laser E-cup and best U17.

Graduated...
Oliver Loughead left the Topper class in 2006 on a 10th at the topper worlds. He recently finished 10th at the radial Europeans.
